Autorretrato erótico en dos actos

Amanece.

Tessa Farmer - Nymphidia

"Tessa's miniscule sculptures reinvigorate a belief in fairies: not the sweet Tinkerbell image in popular conscience, but a biological, entomological, macabre species translating pastoral fable into nightmarish lore. Constructed from bits of organic material, such as roots, leaves, and dead insects, each of Tessa's figures stand barely 1 cm tall, their painstakingly intricate detail visible only through a magnifying glass.

Hovering with rarefied, jewel-like beauty, Tessa's tiny spectacles resound with a theurgist exotica: their specimen forms borrow from Victorian occultism to evolve as something alien and futuristic. Playing out apocalyptic narratives of a microscopic underworld, Tessa's manikin wonders rule with baneful fervour: harnessing mayflies, battling honey bees, attacking spindly spiders. Presented as wee preternatural discoveries, Tessa's sculptures conjure a superstitious premise, dismantling the mythos of fantasia with evidence of something much more gothic, sinister, and bewitching."

The Universal Mind Of Bill Evans

directed by Louis Cavrell

"From the jazzpages personal archives, I bring you the intriguing documentary 'The Universal Mind Of Bill Evans'. Several years ago, Rhapsody released a 21-minute video called 'Bill Evans On The Creative Process', a badly edited reduction of a 1966 TV program introduced by Steve Allen, the first host of the now famous 'Tonight Show'. This short film is a restoration of the original 45-minute telecast. Here is Evans, his hair slicked back, his terrible teeth uncapped, a cigarette waving in the air, in intense conversation with his composer brother Harry Evans (a professor of music at Louisiana State University) on the nature of creativity in jazz.

This documentary features in-depth discussion of Evans' internal process of song interpretation, improvisation, and repertoire. Through demonstration on the piano, Bill uses the song 'Star Eyes' to illustrate his own conception of solo piano and how to interpret and expand upon the melody and underlying chord structure.

Onstage, Evans was famously reticent about speaking, but here he's surprisingly, stirringly provocative."

Declinaciones del monólogo de Eunice Odio

I
Estoy sola,
muy sola,
entre mi cintura y mi vestido,
sola entre mi voz entera,
con una carga de ángeles menudos
como esas caricias
que se desploman solas en los dedos.
Entre mi pelo, a la deriva,
un remero azul,
confundido,

II
Arqueándome ligeramente
sobre mi corazón de piedra en flor
para verlo,
para calzarme sus arterias y mi voz
en un momento dado
en que alguien venga,
y me llame...
Bajo,
desciendo mucho más,
¿quién me encontrará?
Me calzo mis arterias
(qué gran prisa tengo),
me calzo mis arterias y mi voz,
alguien venga,
y me llame,
y no esté yo
ligeramente arqueada sobre mi corazón, para verlo.
y no tenga yo que irme y dejar mi gran voz,
y mi alto corazón
de piedra en flor.

Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen B. Nguyen filled the Dumbo Arts Center with their enormous site-specific installation The Experience of Green (2009). The exhibition emphasized the contrast between the organic and the built environment. Viewers stepped out of Dumbo’s stark brick-and-glass commercial district into a fantastical forest; a walk-through labyrinth of old growth trees made entirely from red kraft paper. The spectacular network of gnarled tree trunks and twisted roots extended over every inch of the gallery, suspending the boundaries of space and time while fully immersing the viewer.

When the Day Breaks / animación - animation

1999, Canada
Directors: Amanda Forbis, Wendy Tilby

"When the Day Breaks illuminates life's most ordinary aspects a toaster, a lemon, a trip to the store and endows them with a visceral power. Co-directors Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis use pencil and paint on photocopies to achieve a textured look suggestive of a lithograph or a flickering newsreel. With deft humor and finely rendered detail, When the Day Breaksevokes the promise and fragility of a new day, hinting that these moments are what will some day form our memories; that the everyday is what defines us and connects us."

My Own Window: no sea, just light and shade / photos by Gabriela Lovera

Window and shape of house

Window and shape crumbling down

Photos by Gabriela Lovera:
"Inspired by the Divola images, but without the sea or the abandonment, I made some pictures of my own. The idea was to capture shade and light, and my own internal mood."

John Divola - Zuma Series (1977-78)

ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

"Every time that I would return to this house I would notice that it had changed. Often it was a minor change, some rearranged papers and a few empty beer cans in the corner. The change was at times more substantial, like arriving to find the house full of large tree branches that had recently been set on fire and extinguished, water still dripping from the ceiling. On another occasion there might be a strong wind blowing through the window. Once I arrived to find the house gone.

On Initially arriving I would move through the house looking for areas or situations to photograph. If nothing seemed to interest me I would move things around or do some spray painting. The painting was done in much the same way that one might doodle on a piece of paper. At that point I would return to the camera and explore what ever new potentials existed.

These photographs are not meant to be documents of painting, or sculpture, or even of environmental works. When photographing the space I saw my painting as only an aspect of what was there. The painting did allow me to explore my own gestures. However, it can not be isolated from the broken glass on the floor or a curtain being blown by the wind. No element is of greatest importance. I am most satisfied when the line between evidence of my actions and what is already there is not distinct. These photographs are the product of my involvement with an evolving situation. The house evolving in a primarily linear way toward it's ultimate disintegration, the ocean and light evolving and changing in a cyclical and regenerative manner. My acts, my painting, my photographing, my considering, are part of, not separate from, this process of evolution and change. These photographs are not so much about this process as they are remnants from it. My participation was not so much one of intellectual consideration as one of visceral involvement.  (taken from the artist's Web)

The Hunt - Christian Jankowski

Christian Jankowski en la Web

The Hunt, 1992/1997
Single-channel video
Betacam SP (Master)
1:11 minutes, color with sound
The Hunt  is Christian Jankowski’s most seminal early project, the first video to encapsulate the conceptual twists and self-reflexive humor that now define his mature practice. The footage captures a segment of Jankowski’s week-long quest to eat only groceries he shoots in the supermarket with a bow and arrow. The Hunt is an excellent complement to Jankowski’s 3-channel video Point of Sale. Incisively direct, the early work reveals the groundwork of the latter project’s more discursive investigation of art, business, and their overlap.
